Just over a year ago I started training with the GB Paracanoe team after breaking my back skiing.
Ive been out in my boat when its calm and sunny, wet and windy and everything in between. The hard work was worth it when I was selected to go to the European and World Canoe Sprint Championships.
I managed to get two silver medals and so I felt very happy with what I had achieved but I also felt I was one step away from where I really wanted to be.
A couple of weeks back we had our own National Championships. It was hard staying motivated having come away from world champs being exhausted and knowing a couple of weeks holiday were less than one minutes work away but I am very pleased to say that I won the competition, by the very slightest of margins.
I guess its a good place to be, content with what I have achieved in my first year of racing but still hungry to get some international gold medals and having squad members very close to me will only push me on.
Thank you very much to Bridgedale for supporting me on this journey. They have kept my feet comfortable on those wet and windy days.
